Caltric Air Filter Compatible with Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000 / Wildcat 4 1000 2012-2014 Review: Is it Worth the Investment?

Introduction: Keeping Your Arctic Cat Wildcat Breathing Easy

Maintaining your ATV's engine is crucial for optimal performance and longevity. A vital component in this process is the air filter, responsible for preventing dust, dirt, and debris from entering the engine. This review focuses on the Caltric Air Filter, a replacement filter specifically designed for the Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000 and Wildcat 4 1000 models from 2012 to 2014. For owners of these powerful machines, a reliable air filter is paramount, especially for those who frequently tackle demanding terrains. This budget-friendly option promises decent performance, making it a compelling choice for those seeking an affordable replacement part.

The Caltric Air Filter is a direct replacement for the OEM filter (part number 0470-942), designed to fit seamlessly into your Arctic Cat Wildcat. This review will delve into its performance, durability, and overall value for money, helping you decide if it's the right choice for your off-road adventures.

Key Features of the Caltric Air Filter:

  • Direct OEM Replacement: Designed as a perfect fit for Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000 and Wildcat 4 1000 models from 2012-2014 (part number 0470-942).
  • Affordable Price: Offers excellent value for money at a significantly lower price point than many OEM alternatives.
  • Durable Construction: Made from quality materials designed to withstand harsh conditions.
  • Easy Installation: Designed for straightforward installation, minimizing downtime.
  • Improved Airflow (Claimed): The manufacturer claims that the filter allows for optimized airflow to maximize engine performance.

Pros: What Makes the Caltric Air Filter Stand Out?

  • Budget-Friendly: At just $20.98, this air filter provides a significantly cheaper alternative to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part. This makes it an attractive option for those on a tight budget.
  • Easy Installation: Installation is remarkably straightforward, taking only a few minutes with basic tools. No special skills or expertise are required.
  • Good Fit and Functionality: The filter fits snugly and performs its primary function of filtering dirt and debris effectively. It does not compromise the engine's performance visibly.

Cons: Areas for Improvement

  • Longevity: While the filter performs well initially, its overall lifespan might be shorter compared to more expensive, high-quality alternatives. More frequent replacements may be necessary.
  • Material Quality: The materials used, while functional, may not feel as robust or durable as those found in premium air filters. This could impact long-term performance and reliability.

Who Should Buy the Caltric Air Filter?

This air filter is ideal for budget-conscious owners of Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000 and Wildcat 4 1000 models from 2012 to 2014 who prioritize affordability. If you're looking for a cost-effective replacement part that does the job without breaking the bank, this might be a good option. It’s particularly suited to those who ride in relatively less dusty environments and replace their air filters more frequently.

However, for those who regularly ride in extremely dusty or harsh conditions, a higher-end, longer-lasting filter might be a more worthwhile investment in the long run. Consider the frequency of your rides and the typical conditions in which you use your ATV when making your decision.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

Q: Is this a genuine Arctic Cat part?

A: No, this is an aftermarket replacement filter manufactured by Caltric.

Q: How often should I replace this air filter?

A: The replacement frequency depends on your riding conditions. Inspect it regularly and replace it when visibly dirty or clogged. Ideally, replace it every 50-100 hours of use or more frequently in dusty environments.

Q: How does this compare to other aftermarket filters?

A: Compared to premium aftermarket brands, Caltric filters typically offer a more budget-friendly price point, but might not have the same durability or longevity.

Conclusion: A Balanced Assessment

The Caltric Air Filter provides a reasonably priced and functional replacement option for the Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000/4 1000. Its ease of installation and effective filtering make it a practical choice for those on a budget. However, keep in mind that its longevity may be less than more expensive options. If budget is your primary concern, and you are willing to replace the filter more frequently, the Caltric filter delivers good value.

Consider this filter a temporary solution while you save for a more high end alternative if you ride your ATV consistently in harsh conditions.

Expert Verdict:

The Caltric air filter is a suitable and affordable option for occasional riders or those on a budget. However, for frequent or intense use in demanding terrains, a more robust and durable filter is recommended for better long-term engine protection.

Man this stuff is legit. Used it on my black f150 that had some nasty swirls and it looks like glass now. Definately worth the extra cash if you care about the finish.

Super comfortable for all-day wear and they don't fog up as much as my last pair of safety glasses did. Love them!

Its a decent fan for the price point, looks modern and moves air well. Honestly though, the app setup was a total nightmare and I still can't get it to connect to my wifi. I just use the remote now which works fine but it's annoying that a main feature is so buggy.

Honestly blown away by how much power they crammed into this little thing. I’ve been flying it around the local park and the footage looks professional, even without a heavy gopro on top. My only gripe is the prop wash in sharp turns but it’s manageable if u know what ur doing. Way better than my old Cinelog. Best micro i've

Waste of money imo. The pads fall off the stick half the time while I'm scrubbing and you still have to buy the refills constantly. Just get a regular brush and some Comet, it's way cheaper and does the same thing.
