FootJoy Men's RainGrip Pair Prior Generation Golf Glove Black Medium Review: Are They Worth It?

Introduction: Conquering the Course, Rain or Shine

For golfers, a reliable golf glove is crucial for a solid grip and consistent performance. The FootJoy Men's RainGrip Prior Generation Golf Glove, available in black and a medium size, promises superior grip even in wet conditions. This review delves into the performance and features of this pair of golf gloves, helping you decide if they're the right choice for your game. This prior generation model offers excellent value at a lower price point compared to the latest models. Ideal for players seeking a dependable and affordable option for improving their grip in varied weather conditions, this review explores the pros and cons to help you make an informed decision.

The FootJoy RainGrip gloves are designed for golfers who prioritize grip and control, especially when the weather turns unpredictable. Whether you're facing a light drizzle or a downpour, these gloves aim to maintain your grip and prevent slips, allowing for a more confident and consistent swing.

Key Features:

  • RainGrip Technology: Designed for superior grip in wet conditions.
  • Prior Generation Model: Offers excellent value for the price compared to newer models.
  • Cabretta Leather: Provides excellent feel and durability (specific leather type might vary slightly depending on actual inventory).
  • Black Color: Classic and versatile color option.
  • Medium Size: Standard size suitable for many golfers; however, size checking is recommended.

Pros:

  • Exceptional Grip in Wet Conditions: The RainGrip technology truly delivers on its promise. Even when drenched, these gloves maintain a secure grip, minimizing the risk of slips and mis-hits.
  • Surprisingly Durable: Despite the relatively lower price point compared to the latest models, these gloves show remarkable durability, especially considering the use of what appears to be cabretta leather. You'll likely find they withstand several rounds of golf before significant wear and tear.
  • Comfortable Fit: The medium size is generally comfortable for average-sized hands, offering a secure yet not overly tight feeling. This enhances overall swing feel.

Cons:

  • Prior Generation Model Limitations: While offering a budget-friendly option, this is a prior generation model. It may lack some of the advanced features or refined materials found in the latest FootJoy gloves.
  • Limited Color and Size Options: The review focuses on the black, medium size. Other colors or sizes might not be readily available depending on the retailer's inventory.

Who Should Buy These Gloves?

This FootJoy RainGrip pair is perfect for budget-conscious golfers who value grip and performance, especially when playing in wet or damp conditions. They are a great option for recreational golfers who don't require the latest technological advancements but want reliable performance. Moreover, this is a suitable option for golfers who might use their golf gloves for multiple rounds of golf before replacing them.

These gloves are also a great backup pair for those who frequently play golf despite the weather. Keep them in your golf bag as a contingency plan when unexpected rain hits.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

  • Q: Are these gloves suitable for all weather conditions? A: While designed for wet conditions, they're not specifically made for extremely cold or hot weather.
  • Q: How long do these gloves last? A: The longevity depends on usage and care. With regular use and proper maintenance, you can anticipate several rounds of play.
  • Q: What size should I order? A: It's recommended to refer to the FootJoy size chart to ensure a proper fit. This prior generation model may fit slightly differently than newer ones.

Competitor Comparison:

While other brands like Callaway and Titleist offer similar rain-resistant gloves, FootJoy RainGrip generally offers a more competitive price point for comparable performance. The RainGrip's value for money is a key differentiator.

Conclusion:

The FootJoy Men's RainGrip Prior Generation Golf Glove offers outstanding value for its price. The RainGrip technology is effective in damp or wet conditions, delivering a reliable and confident grip. While lacking some features of newer models, its durability and performance in wet weather conditions make it a strong choice for budget-minded golfers.

I usually buy the newest tech but decided to save some cash on these 'prior gen' gloves. Honestly, I can't tell the difference. The grip in the rain is top-notch, though they feel a bit stiff when they first dry out. Great value for the money.

They are okay i guess. Grip is good when wet but the fit is a little weird compared to my regular leather gloves. Also they look kinda bulky on my hands. Idk if I'd buy again but they do the job for now.

Been using FootJoy for years and these RainGrips don't disappoint. Even though they're the older model, the microsuede palm actually works better the wetter it gets. Pros: Cheap, amazing grip in storms, comes as a pair. Cons: Breathability isn't great if it's hot AND raining. Still, if you're on a budget, these are a no-brainer.

Decent gloves for the price but the seams started fraying after like 3 rounds... grip is still good tho.

Avoid if you have sensitive skin. The material feels really scratchy and the Medium size runs way smaller than their standard leather gloves. I could barely get them on. Waste of money tbh.

Super happy with these. i don't see the point in paying double for the new version when these work just fine. shipping was fast too.

Picked these up cuz the new ones are way too expensive and honestly I can't tell the difference. They grip like crazy when it starts drizzling and for this price you really can't beat it.

Absolute lifesaver for my morning rounds when the grass is still soaked!

These are okay, definitely get the job done for a "prior generation" model. The fit is a bit tighter than the current version I think, or maybe I just need to break them in more. Grip is great in rain, but they feel kinda scratchy on the inside compared to my leather gloves. Good value but not the most comfortable thing I've ever worn.

If you play in the PNW like I do, you need these. I don't care if they're the old model, the microsuede palm works better the wetter it gets. Solid 4 stars since they aren't the prettiest but they work.

Sizing was way off for a medium. Way too small and the stitching started coming apart after two holes. Wouldn't buy again.

I've tried the TaylorMade rain gloves and these FootJoys are just as good for like five bucks less. I actually prefer the black color because it doesn't show the dirt as much. Even though they are the older style, the tech is basically the same. They saved my scorecard during a tournament last weekend when the heavens opened up. Highly recommend keeping a pair in your bag.

honestly they are fine for the money. idk if i love the feel of the fabric but it does stop the club from slipping. shipping took forever though which was annoying.

snatched these up on sale and super happy with 'em. Much better than trying to dry off my leather glove every 5 mins!
