Kluson Revolution Diecast Tuners Review: Are They Worth the Price?

Introduction: Upgrading Your Guitar's Tuning Stability

For guitarists serious about their instrument's performance, tuning stability is paramount. Consistent tuning ensures that your playing remains accurate and in tune throughout a performance. Replacing your existing tuning pegs with high-quality replacements like the Kluson Revolution Diecast Tuners can significantly improve your guitar's tuning stability and overall playing experience. This review examines the Kluson Revolution Diecast Tuners – 3 Per Side – Pearloid Keystone Button, Locking Nickel, focusing on their performance, features, and overall value. These tuners are targeted towards guitarists and luthiers who want to upgrade their instruments with improved tuning mechanisms and a visually appealing aesthetic. They are particularly suitable for electric guitars, though they might be applicable to some acoustic guitars depending on the peg hole size.

Many guitarists find that their guitar's tuning pegs, especially those included with lower-priced instruments, may slip or require frequent retuning. This can be extremely frustrating, especially during live performances. Higher quality tuners, like the Kluson Revolution models, aim to resolve these issues, offering enhanced precision and longevity.

Key Features

  • Diecast Construction: Built with robust diecast metal for durability and precise tuning.
  • Locking Mechanism: The locking design enhances tuning stability, minimizing slippage and maintaining tuning accuracy.
  • Pearloid Keystone Buttons: Classic pearloid keystone buttons offer both aesthetic appeal and comfortable grip.
  • Nickel Finish: A sleek nickel finish enhances the look of any guitar headstock.
  • 3 Per Side: Designed as a set of six tuners – three for each side of the headstock.

Pros

  • Superior Tuning Stability: The locking mechanism significantly reduces tuning issues, keeping your guitar in tune for longer periods. This is a substantial upgrade over standard, non-locking tuners.
  • Smooth and Precise Tuning: The diecast construction ensures smooth and precise tuning adjustments. Small adjustments are easily made without excessive movement or slippage.
  • Durable Construction: These tuners are built to last. The diecast material is resistant to wear and tear, ensuring longevity and reliability.

Cons

  • Price Point: At $113.82, these tuners are a significant investment compared to standard tuning pegs. This might be a barrier for some guitarists on a budget.
  • Installation: While installation isn't overly complex, it does require some technical skill and the right tools. Improper installation could damage your guitar.

Who Should Buy These Tuners?

These Kluson Revolution tuners are an excellent choice for guitarists who value tuning stability above all else. Players who frequently perform live or record music will greatly appreciate the minimal tuning adjustments required. They're ideal for those seeking to upgrade the tuning mechanism on their instrument for improved performance. The superior quality and build will appeal to professional musicians and those who expect their equipment to withstand rigorous use.

Guitarists who prioritize the aesthetics of their instrument will also appreciate the classic look of the pearloid keystone buttons and the sleek nickel finish. These tuners will significantly enhance the overall appearance of a guitar headstock. However, those with very limited budgets might find the price prohibitive and should consider less expensive alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Are these tuners compatible with all guitars?

No. These tuners are designed to fit standard 6-in-line peg holes, but compatibility depends on the specific guitar model. You should check the dimensions of your existing tuners before purchasing.

How difficult are they to install?

Installation requires some mechanical aptitude. While instructions are generally available, it is recommended to have some experience with guitar maintenance or seek assistance from a professional luthier if unsure.

How do these compare to Gotoh tuners?

Gotoh tuners are another popular choice, often praised for their smooth operation and reliability. Both Kluson and Gotoh produce high-quality tuners, and the best choice depends on individual preferences and budget. Gotoh tuners may offer slightly different aesthetic options.

Conclusion: A Premium Upgrade for Discerning Guitarists

The Kluson Revolution Diecast Tuners provide a noticeable improvement in tuning stability and precision. The locking mechanism is effective and contributes to a significantly more reliable tuning experience. However, the relatively high price point makes them a premium upgrade best suited for those who prioritize superior performance and are willing to invest in quality components.

The superior materials and build quality are evident, however the installation process and price point should be carefully considered before purchasing. Weighing the advantages against the investment cost is crucial for every guitarist considering this upgrade.

Total waste of time. The threading was off and I couldn't get a tight seal no matter what I did. Ended up returning it and buying a brass one from a local shop. Spend the extra money and get something that won't flood your floor.

It's fine for occasional use. The value is definitely there since you get a lot of doses for cheap. I didn't find it "extra strength" though, felt more like a standard dose to me. It's a decent backup to have in the medicine cabinet.

Good value for the money. We were looking at a $200 vet visit just to get a small wart checked out and decided to try nucud first. It’s easy to apply and didn't seem to irritate my dog's skin at all. Took about three weeks but the wart is basically gone now. definitely worth a shot if the wart isn't too big.

It’s fine but i think i still prefer the regular foaming cleanser from this brand. This one is a bit thicker and harder to rinse off.

They definitely fly straighter but I feel like I lost some distance compared to my usual balls. It’s a weird trade-off because you’re in the fairway more, but you’re hitting a longer club into the green. Also keep in mind they arent legal for tournament play so idk if I'll keep using them for every round, might just keep them for casual games with the guys.
