Leviton GFCI Outlet with Guidelight Review: Enhanced Safety and Nighttime Convenience\n\nIn today's homes, electrical safety is paramount. Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlets are essential for protecting against electrical shocks, especially in areas prone to moisture like bathrooms and kitchens. The Leviton GFCI Outlet with Guidelight, 20 Amp, Self Test, Tamper-Resistant with LED Indicator Light (GFNL2-W, White), takes safety a step further by integrating a convenient night light feature. This review explores the functionality, benefits, and potential drawbacks of this innovative outlet, providing you with all the information you need to make an informed decision.\n\nThis outlet is ideal for homeowners looking to upgrade their existing outlets with GFCI protection while also adding a subtle, energy-efficient night light. It's particularly well-suited for families with young children, thanks to its tamper-resistant design, and those who want to avoid the clutter of traditional plug-in night lights.\n\n## Key Features and Specifications\n\n GFCI Protection: Provides protection against ground faults, reducing the risk of electrical shock.\n 20 Amp Capacity: Suitable for higher-demand appliances and circuits.\n Integrated Guidelight: Features an energy-efficient LED night light that automatically turns on in low-light conditions.\n Self-Testing: Automatically tests the GFCI functionality on a regular basis, ensuring continuous protection.\n Tamper-Resistant: Equipped with a shutter mechanism to prevent foreign objects from being inserted, enhancing child safety.\n LED Indicator Light: Provides visual indication of the outlet's status (e.g., tripped, functioning normally).\n White Finish: Blends seamlessly with most standard wall plates and decors.\n\n## Pros: Advantages of the Leviton GFCI Outlet with Guidelight\n\n Enhanced Safety: Provides critical GFCI protection, significantly reducing the risk of electrical shock, especially in damp environments.\n Convenient Integrated Guidelight: Eliminates the need for separate plug-in night lights, freeing up outlets and reducing clutter. The automatic on/off feature is a great convenience.\n Tamper-Resistant Design: Offers added safety for households with young children, preventing them from inserting objects into the outlet.\n Self-Testing Functionality: Provides peace of mind by automatically verifying the GFCI's operational status.\n Easy Installation: Designed for easy installation, replacing standard outlets with minimal effort (professional installation recommended if you're not comfortable working with electrical wiring).\n\n## Cons: Potential Drawbacks\n\n Higher Price Point: More expensive than standard GFCI outlets or traditional plug-in night lights. The integrated features come at a premium.\n Guidelight Brightness: The guidelight's brightness might be too dim for some users, especially in larger rooms or for those who prefer a brighter night light. Some users may prefer the brightness level of dedicated night lights like those from GE.\n\n## Who Should Buy the Leviton GFCI Outlet with Guidelight?\n\nThis outlet is an excellent choice for homeowners prioritizing safety and convenience. It's particularly beneficial for:\n\n Families with Young Children: The tamper-resistant design and GFCI protection offer enhanced safety, providing peace of mind in areas where children are present.\n Homeowners Renovating Bathrooms and Kitchens: Upgrading to GFCI outlets is often required by code in these areas, and the integrated guidelight adds a practical and stylish touch.\n Individuals Seeking Energy Efficiency: The LED night light consumes minimal power, making it an energy-efficient alternative to traditional incandescent night lights.\n Those who want to declutter: Combining GFCI protection with a subtle nightlight function saves space on walls and in rooms.\n\nIt's also a good option for those seeking to replace older, less reliable GFCI outlets with a modern, self-testing model. While there are cheaper alternatives like standard GFCI outlets from brands like Eaton or Siemens, they lack the integrated guidelight and self-testing features.\n\n## Conclusion: Safety and Convenience Combined\n\nThe Leviton GFCI Outlet with Guidelight offers a compelling combination of safety and convenience. While the price is higher than basic GFCI outlets, the integrated guidelight, tamper-resistant design, and self-testing functionality provide significant added value. It's a worthwhile investment for homeowners seeking to enhance safety and simplify their lives.\n\nExpert Verdict: The Leviton GFCI outlet with Guidelight provides excellent electrical safety with the added convenience of a subtle, energy-efficient night light, making it a solid upgrade for any home. If the budget allows, this outlet offers both protection and practicality that standard GFCI outlets simply don't.\n\n## FAQ\n\nQ: Is the Leviton GFCI outlet difficult to install?\nA: While it is designed for relatively easy installation, it's crucial to follow all instructions carefully and, if you're not comfortable working with electrical wiring, it's best to hire a qualified electrician.\n\nQ: Does the guidelight have an on/off switch?\nA: No, the guidelight automatically turns on in low-light conditions and off when there's sufficient ambient light.\n\nQ: What does the LED indicator light signify?\nA: The LED indicator light typically indicates the outlet's status. A solid green light usually means the outlet is functioning normally. A red or flashing light often indicates a tripped GFCI or a problem with the outlet.\n\nQ: What is the difference between a 15 Amp and a 20 Amp GFCI outlet?\nA: A 20 Amp GFCI outlet is designed for circuits that require a higher current draw, such as those serving kitchen appliances or power tools. A 15 Amp outlet is suitable for general-purpose circuits. Using a 20 amp outlet on a 15 amp circuit is fine, but using a 15 amp outlet on a 20 amp circuit is unsafe.\n\nQ: Where should GFCI outlets be installed?\nA: GFCI outlets are required by code in areas where water is present, such as bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, garages, and outdoor locations.\n\nQ: How do I test a GFCI outlet?\nA: Most GFCI outlets have a "Test" and "Reset" button. Pressing the "Test" button should trip the outlet. To reset it, press the "Reset" button. The Leviton model also self-tests.\n\nReady to upgrade your home's safety and convenience? Tbh the coverage is decent and the fact that it's "greener" is a plus, but man... the price is steep. I used it for a small garden bench and it looks solid, but I noticed a bit of unevenness if you don't work fast enough. If your doing a big fence or something, this is gonna bankrupt you lol. Its a good product but idk if the premium is totally worth it compared to some of the stuff you can get at the big box stores for half the price.

I've used the Moon Juice pearl powder before and wanted to see if Zlimer was a good dupe. It's definitely more affordable, which I love. However, the texture isn't quite as fine as the more expensive brands, so you really have to whisk it into your base. It's good for brightening, but if you're looking for an instant miracle for large pores, this probably isn't it. It's a "slow and steady" kind of product.

As someone who has never tried gel before, this kit was a godsend. It comes with literally everything you need, from the files to the top coat. The bottles are a bit small but for 61 pieces I really can't complain about the value.
