Valvoline Palladium #2 3% Moly Heavy Duty Grease Review: Is it Worth the Investment?

Introduction: Protecting Your Heavy-Duty Equipment

Valvoline Palladium #2 3% Moly Heavy Duty (HD) Grease is a premium lithium-based grease designed for heavy-duty applications. This 14.1 oz cartridge, sold in cases of 10, promises exceptional performance and longevity, making it a potentially attractive option for those with demanding lubrication needs. Whether you're maintaining industrial machinery, agricultural equipment, or a fleet of heavy-duty vehicles, understanding its strengths and weaknesses is crucial before making a purchase. This comprehensive review aims to provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision.

This grease stands out due to its inclusion of molybdenum disulfide (Moly), a solid lubricant that provides excellent extreme pressure (EP) properties. This means it's designed to withstand high loads and prevent wear, even under harsh operating conditions. The 'heavy-duty' designation signifies its suitability for equipment facing significant stress and friction.

Many professionals and DIY enthusiasts seek a high-quality grease that offers reliable protection and extended intervals between lubrication. This review delves into whether Valvoline Palladium #2 3% Moly delivers on those promises.

Key Features of Valvoline Palladium #2 3% Moly Grease

  • Lithium-based formulation: Provides excellent stability and resistance to water washout.
  • 3% Molybdenum Disulfide (Moly): Enhances extreme pressure (EP) properties and reduces friction for superior wear protection.
  • Heavy-Duty application: Designed for demanding equipment and operating conditions.
  • 14.1 oz Cartridge: Convenient and efficient dispensing for various applications.
  • Case of 10: Cost-effective for bulk purchasing and consistent lubrication needs.

This stuff is the real deal! Used it on my backhoe and it stays put way longer than the cheap tubes I used to buy.

Switched to Valvoline Palladium for our fleet of dump trucks last season. Honestly, the 3% moly makes a massive difference in high-pressure spots. I've noticed less wear on the pins and bushings when we do our teardowns. It is definitely more expensive than your run-of-the-mill lithium grease, but we've actually extended our greasing intervals, so the labor savings alone pay for the extra cost. Great tackiness too, doesn't wash out in the rain as much as I expected.

Better than the Lucas Red n Tacky I was using before. It’s got a bit more "bite" to it if that makes sense? Seems to handle the heat on my trailer bearings without thinning out too much. 5 stars.

I appreciate the consistency of this product. It dispenses easily from the gun even in cooler temperatures, which is often an issue with heavy-duty moly greases. The protection levels are within spec for my John Deere equipment, and I am satisfied with the performance so far.

I’ve been farming for 30 years and seen a lot of "premium" products come and go. This Valvoline Palladium is actually worth the hype. I put it in the pivot points on my loader and it hasn't squeaked once in three weeks of heavy use. Usually, I'm out there every few days hitting it again. It’s thick, messy, and hard to get off your hands, but that’s exactly what you want in a heavy duty grease. It stays where you put it.

It's okay grease, but idk if it's worth twice the price of the standard Valvoline stuff. It works fine and the moly is nice to have for the heavy loads, but for a DIYer it might be overkill. I didn't see a huge difference on my mower deck compared to the cheaper tubes.

Works well enough but man it's getting expensive. Shipping took forever too.

It’s a solid lithium complex grease with 3% moly. Nothing revolutionary here tbh. If your manual calls for moly, this fits the bill, but you're definitely paying for the Valvoline name on the tube. It gets the job done though.

Honestly, I don't get the reviews saying this is a "value." It's way too expensive for what it is. The tube I got was leaking oil out of the bottom before I even opened it, which made a huge mess in my cabinet. Plus, it’s so thick it clogged up my pneumatic grease gun twice. I ended up going back to my old brand because it was just too much of a headache to deal with for very little noticeable gain in protection. Not impressed for the price point.
