WaterBOB Bathtub Storage Emergency Drinking Water Container Review: 100-Gallon Hurricane Survival Solution?

Preparing for emergencies is crucial, and having a reliable source of clean drinking water is paramount. The WaterBOB 100-Gallon Bathtub Storage Emergency Drinking Water Container offers a convenient and relatively affordable solution for storing large quantities of water in your own home. This review will delve into its features, pros, cons, and overall value to help you decide if it's the right emergency preparedness product for you.

What is the WaterBOB?

The WaterBOB is a collapsible, BPA-free polyethylene plastic bag designed to fit neatly into a standard-sized bathtub. Its primary function is to provide a readily accessible supply of emergency drinking water in the event of a natural disaster, power outage, or other emergency situation that disrupts municipal water supplies. The 100-gallon capacity makes it ideal for families or households requiring a substantial water reserve. It comes with a convenient hand pump for easy water access.

This product is particularly suitable for homeowners concerned about water scarcity during emergencies. It's a cost-effective alternative to buying and storing numerous individual bottles of water, which can take up significant space and become cumbersome.

Key Features of the WaterBOB 100-Gallon Container

  • 100-Gallon Capacity: Provides a substantial water supply for extended emergencies.
  • Collapsible Design: Saves space when not in use. Easily folds flat for storage.
  • BPA-Free Material: Ensures safe and clean water storage.
  • Included Hand Pump: Facilitates easy water dispensing without the need for extra equipment.
  • Durable Construction: Made from heavy-duty polyethylene for reliable performance.

Pros of the WaterBOB

  • Large Capacity: The 100-gallon capacity is a significant advantage, providing enough water for a family for several days in an emergency.
  • Cost-Effective: Compared to buying numerous individual water bottles, the WaterBOB offers a more economical solution for large-scale water storage.
  • Space-Saving Design: The collapsible nature of the bag allows for easy storage when not needed, unlike bulky water jugs that take up constant space.
  • Easy to Use: The included hand pump simplifies water access, eliminating the need for siphoning or other cumbersome methods.
  • Peace of Mind: Knowing you have a readily available supply of clean drinking water during an emergency provides invaluable peace of mind.

Cons of the WaterBOB

  • Requires Tub Space: The WaterBOB needs a clean bathtub for proper storage, which might not be feasible in every household.
  • Potential for Leaks: Although made from durable material, there's always a slight risk of leaks, especially with prolonged use and potential punctures. Regular inspection is recommended.

Who Should Buy the WaterBOB?

The WaterBOB is an excellent choice for homeowners who prioritize emergency preparedness and want a reliable, large-capacity water storage solution. Families with young children, individuals living in areas prone to natural disasters (hurricanes, earthquakes, floods), and those seeking an affordable alternative to buying countless water bottles will find this product particularly beneficial.

Furthermore, the WaterBOB's easy-to-use features and compact storage make it an ideal choice for both experienced preppers and those new to emergency preparedness. Its intuitive design eliminates complex setup or maintenance requirements, ensuring quick and easy implementation in a crisis situation.

Alternatives to Consider

While the WaterBOB offers a strong value proposition, other options exist in the emergency water storage market. Products like the AquaSure Water Storage Container or the Reliance Water Cube offer similar functionality, with varying capacities and price points. Comparing features like capacity, materials, and included accessories is essential before making a purchase decision.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: How long will the water stored in the WaterBOB remain safe to drink?

A: While the WaterBOB itself is BPA-free, the shelf life of the stored water depends on factors such as water quality and storage conditions. It's recommended to replace the water every six months to ensure its purity and safety.

Q: Can I use the WaterBOB to store water other than for drinking?

A: While primarily designed for drinking water, the WaterBOB can theoretically be used to store other non-toxic liquids, but this is not recommended. It is best to use the bag solely for potable drinking water.

Q: Is the hand pump durable?

A: The pump included with the WaterBOB appears sturdy, but it's crucial to follow the instructions correctly and avoid undue stress on the components.

Conclusion: Is the WaterBOB Worth It?

The WaterBOB 100-Gallon Bathtub Storage Emergency Drinking Water Container offers a convenient and cost-effective solution for storing a significant amount of emergency drinking water. Its large capacity, space-saving design, and easy-to-use features make it a compelling choice for families and individuals seeking peace of mind during emergencies. While the risk of leaks and requirement of bathtub space are minor drawbacks, the overall value proposition makes it a strong contender in the emergency preparedness market. The product is an excellent addition to any preparedness kit.

Bought this after the last hurricane season when we ran out of bottled water in two days. It’s basically a huge heavy-duty plastic bag that fits the tub. Filling it was easy enough, but word of advice: make sure your tub is clean first even though the water stays inside the liner. It comes with a little siphon pump which is a nice touch. Definitely gives me peace of mind knowing we have 100 gallons ready if the grid goes down.

It does what it says it will do, but keep in mind you can't use your shower once this thing is full. It's a bit of a trade-off. The material feels thick enough but I'm always worried about a leak. It's fine for the price I guess.

We live in Florida so this is a must-have for us. Much better than trying to store 50 jugs in the garage where they just take up space. Fits our standard tub perfectly. I hope we never have to actually use the water but glad we have it.

idk if i got a dud but the pump is super flimsy. it took forever to get any water out and honestly i think it might be easier to just use a pitcher. plus it's a pain to dry out if you don't end up using the water. wouldnt buy again tbh.

Simple and effective. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

So I bought the WaterBOB for our emergency kit. It's a cool concept but you really need to make sure your tub is the right size because if it's too small the bag bunches up weird. Also, once it is full, that's it—you aren't moving it lol. It's heavy! I like the peace of mind but the setup is a bit more stressful than I thought it would be. Its okay.

Great value for the money. I compared this to some of the hard plastic tanks and this is way more affordable and easier to store when you aren't using it. The plastic doesn't have that weird chemical smell either which is a plus.

This is a staple in my disaster kit. 100 gallons is a lot of water for a family of four. Just make sure you follow the instructions about the siphon. For under 40 bucks, you really can't beat the capacity.
