If you're serious about watercolor painting and want to achieve professional-looking results, this set is definitely worth considering. While it might be a bit of an investment for beginners, the superior pigment load and handling can be a rewarding experience for those starting out as well.

Pros: Why We Love the Mijello Mission Gold Watercolors

The Mijello Mission Gold watercolors offer several distinct advantages that make them a favorite among watercolor artists:

  • Incredible Pigment Load & Vibrancy: The colors are intensely saturated and vibrant, offering exceptional color payoff with just a small amount of paint. The high pigment load allows you to create deep, rich washes and stunning details.
  • Exceptional Mixing Capabilities: The single-pigment formulation makes it easy to mix clean, predictable colors without muddying. This is crucial for achieving precise color control and creating subtle variations in tone.
  • Superior Lightfastness for Archival Quality: The excellent lightfastness ensures that your artwork will resist fading and discoloration over time, making them ideal for creating pieces you want to preserve or sell.

Cons: Areas Where the Mijello Mission Gold Could Improve

While the Mijello Mission Gold watercolors are undoubtedly high-quality, there are a couple of drawbacks to consider:

  • Price Point: The relatively high price point may be a barrier for beginner artists or those on a budget. While the quality justifies the cost for serious artists, it's a significant investment.
  • Limited Color Selection in the Set: While 17 colors is a good starting point, some artists might find the selection limited, especially if they require specific or unique hues. Expanding the included colors or offering larger sets could be beneficial.

Who Should Buy the Mijello Mission Gold Watercolors?

The Mijello Mission Gold Class Pure Pigment Watercolors are an excellent choice for a variety of artists:

  • Intermediate and Advanced Watercolor Artists: Artists with some experience who are looking to upgrade their materials and achieve professional-quality results will greatly appreciate the performance and color intensity of these paints.
  • Artists Seeking Archival Quality: If you create artwork for sale or want to preserve your paintings for future generations, the exceptional lightfastness of these watercolors makes them a perfect choice.
  • Artists Who Value Mixing and Color Control: The single-pigment formulation and excellent mixing capabilities are ideal for artists who prioritize precise color control and want to create complex color palettes.
If you're looking for an alternative, Daniel Smith Watercolors are another high-end option known for their extensive range of unique and granulating colors. Windsor & Newton Professional Watercolors are a more established brand with a reputation for consistent quality and a wide color selection. However, Mijello offers excellent value for money, considering the pigment concentration and overall performance.

Conclusion: A Worthwhile Investment for Serious Watercolorists

The Mijello Mission Gold Class Pure Pigment Watercolor MWC-1517P offers exceptional color vibrancy, excellent mixing capabilities, and superior lightfastness, making them a worthwhile investment for serious watercolor artists. While the price may be a deterrent for some, the quality and performance justify the cost for those seeking professional-level results. Ready to elevate your watercolor painting? Sad to say this broke me out really bad after just two days... if you have super sensitive skin or are prone to cystic acne maybe skip this one because the silicone feel is very heavy.

So, I have mixed feelings. On one hand, the ingredients are great and it didn't cause any breakouts. On the other hand, the "medium brown" looked almost black on me for the first two days. It faded into a nicer shade eventually, but just be warned it starts off very intense. Good if you want that bold look, but maybe go lighter if you're fair-skinned.

The shoes are adequate for recreational use. However, the stitching around the toe area started to fray after the third week. They are comfortable for my child, but the quality reflects the lower price point.
